Old Fashioned Banana Bread

This is Grandma Wierenga's recipe and has been around for over 100 years.

Ingredients

  1. 4 ripe bananas
  2. 1 1/2 cups sugar
  3. 3 cups flour
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 2/3 cup sour milk (add 1/2 tsp vinegar to milk)
  6. 2 teaspoon baking soda (with milk)
  7. 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  8. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  9. 1/2 cup butter
  10. Chocolate chips

Preparation

Mix sugar and eggs until fluffy. Add bananas, milk, vanilla, and butter.

Mix flour and dry ingredients together. Add to sugar mixture and mix for 2 minutes.

Move entire mixture from mixing bowl into loaf pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

Bake at 325° for 60 minutes, or about 30 minutes for muffins.

Let cool, then serve with a little butter or peanut butter spread on each slice.
